El Molinar, tela marinera! A route on the fishing memory of the neighborhood
We invite you to tour – and map – El Molinar to learn where is the memory of fishing, to raise blinds and find nets and jigs of the fishing master or utensils of fishmongers and sailing masters. To discover the neighborhood's maritime heritage. A heritage that goes through memory, but also through conflict, care, and community. We believe that the 'El Molinar, tela marinera' route is a necessary proposal that, without nostalgia, brings us closer to who we are to imagine who we can be.
The Molinar that today embodies the fishing memory of the neighborhood - men and women from 90 to 50 and a few years old - has been unfolding since the fifties until now. El Molinar goes from being poor, the neighborhood of the forgotten, 'sa merdera' of Palma, but where 'el patató' of Ciutat spends its summers, to being a neighborhood full of real estate agents who advertise buildings in German.
To begin, you must choose a point on the map. The route you will take is the result of a community process. We have listened to neighborhoods, people from the sea, who have given us memories and memories. We have transformed his words into a path that explains the fishing and maritime district that is not visible to the naked eye.
Welcome to 'El Molinar, tela marinera'.
